Set on the beautiful University Park campus in the town of State College, Pennsylvania, Penn State is one of the largest universities in the US. Penn State is a global top-50 university according to several rankings, and is ranked eighth in the nation by the U.S. News & World Report. Certification through the Intensive English Communication Program at Penn State carries the credibility needed to launch high-profile academic pursuits in the US.

The IECP

Pennsylvania State’s Intensive English Communication Program (IECP) is specifically designed for adult learners preparing to enter an American institute of higher education. It provides an essential stepping stone for international students in the US, and sets them up with a competitive edge over their peers. Armed with strong academic English skills, Asian students who complete the IECP can take on the challenges of academic life in the US without any secondary problems.

International students enrolling at Penn State or virtually any other institute of higher learning in the US are required to meet certain English language proficiency requirements. There are several ways to accomplish this, such as meeting TOEFL or IELTS score requirements. For those who have not taken and passed one of these tests, IECP certification can be submitted as a substitute for admission to Penn State.

IECP certification is not granted automatically to all students. It is, in so many words, an official statement endorsing the student’s English language proficiency as well as their potential for academic success. It goes beyond English-language ability to certify that the student has what it takes to be a successful student at Penn State. IECP Faculty are experienced, professional academic English instructors eager to help you reach your goals, including certification.

Life at Penn State

Students enrolled in the IECP study on Penn State’s main University Park campus. This is an ideal place to be based, and was even ranked as one of the safest cities in the US. The outdoor environment is spectacular, complete with four seasons, warm summers, colorful autumns and snow in winter.

Students have access to a full range of facilities here in the town of State College. This is a community that thrives on its student population, and you’ll enjoy plenty of opportunity to practice English in the restaurants, shops and parks around town. Furthermore, the University Office of Global Programs specifically plans activities for IECP students during their time in the program.
