When Mount Royal University first opened its doors more than 100 years ago – in September, 1911 – it welcomed 179 students. Today, some 12,000 credit students take a variety of programs and courses including Bachelor’s degrees, diplomas and certificates. The courses offered have changed over time, but Mount Royal’s focus remains the same: providing students with quality teaching and small class sizes.

Experience has also taught Mount Royal the importance of preparing students for life after graduation. That means programs are built on practical and current information, as well as hands-on learning through work placements, practicum and co-op education.

The Faculty of Science & Technology at Mount Royal University is renowned for its research and teaching excellence. The Faculty of Science & Technology allows you to prepare for a variety of exciting careers in science and technology by not only teaching you the basics of science, but also how to be a flexible and innovative problem-solver.

Choose your path – degree, university transfer, diploma or certificate program – and then choose your field. Gain a deeper understanding of plants, animals and microorganisms in the Department of Biology; learn how to have great chemistry with the world around you in the Department of Chemistry and Physics; dig your hands in the dirt in Earth and Environmental Sciences; and delve into challenging number puzzles and master the newest technologies in Mathematics and Computing.

Bachelor of Science

The Bachelor of Science offered by the Faculty is a four-year degree program that aims to launch your career in high-demand areas within scientific, business, legal and professional communities.

Students can benefit from a range of majors, including Cellular and Molecular Biology, General Science, Geology, and Health Science and Environmental Science, which enables you to tailor the program to your own interests.

Mount Royal is strongly committed to personalized and experiential learning. Class sizes for the Bachelor of Science are kept small, fostering face-to-face relationships with lecturers and lab instructors, who are leaders in their fields. Lab work focuses on hands-on learning and encourages practical applications of theoretical concepts.

With skylights and floor-to-ceiling windows, you’ll never be in the dark. Climb the walls, swim a few laps, pump some iron or hit the courts. Whatever your activity, Mount Royal’s recreation centre is fully equipped and ready to play.

If you’re more of a clubber than a competitor, the Student Association has over 40 clubs for you to choose from. If none of them are right for you, grab your friends and start up your own! So there’s no excuses – find your fit and dig into the active scene at Mount Royal.
