Hong Kong student recruitment events

SOAS University of London will be represented at two study fairs in Hong Kong during July. SOAS will be attending the Amber Education HKDSE on 13-14 July at the Renaissance Harbour View Hotel. It will then be at the Education UK HKDSE Fair, organised by the British Council, on 16-17 July. Both events are excellent opportunities for students who have recently completed their International Baccalaureate (IB) or Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education (HKDSE) to discover the range of undergraduate degrees, which SOAS has to offer, and to discuss with representatives of the School what it is like to study in London, one of the most diverse and exciting places to be a student on the planet.

Some students may also be interested in finding out about the Pre-Master’s Foundation course, which SOAS offers. SOAS has been providing Foundation programmes for more than 30 years, and the SOAS course provides an excellent path towards full degree progression by combining English language development in tandem with academic subjects.

SOAS offers an extensive choice of undergraduate degrees across the Humanities and Social Sciences, and attracts a diversified student body with many students coming from Hong Kong and China with interests across a range of disciplines, including Law, Management, International Relations and Development.

The Law Department at SOAS is one of the most highly-regarded law departments in the UK for both the quality of its teaching and research. The Department has an unrivalled concentration of specialists in the laws of Asian and African countries, with additional areas of expertise in the areas of comparative law, human rights, commercial law, environmental law and international law.

For undergraduates, SOAS offers the LLB Law Single Honours degree and the BA Combined Honours Law degree. The LLB degree programme results in students graduating with a Qualifying Law Degree (QLD), which allows them to pursue a career in legal practice should they wish to do so. The combined degree course is designed for students to take one non-law option in each year of the degree. This appeals to students who want to take advantage of studying the widest range of the possible courses that SOAS can offer.

SOAS also offers a taught on-campus degree on BSc Management from its Department of Financial and Management Studies. The programme provides students with a strong grounding in management science alongside optional specialist knowledge of business and management in Asian and Middle East and North African (MENA) regions.

Graduates from the Department of Financial and Management Studies acquire the specialist international focus and management skills needed to work effectively in a global, multicultural context. They gain a portfolio of widely transferable skills including analysing and selecting information; communicating effectively; understanding and interpreting numerical data; numeracy and problem solving. Graduates have gone on to highly successful professional and management careers around the world.

SOAS looks forward to welcoming future graduates at its student events in Hong Kong.
