Queen Mary University of London (QMUL) is one of the world’s leading universities, with first-class academics delivering inspirational teaching informed by their latest research. The University places great emphasis on ensuring that students are able to pursue rewarding work in a career of their choice when they leave, and they are in the top ten per cent of universities for graduate starting salaries in the UK. They also offer something no other university can – a stunning residential campus in the heart of London’s exciting East End.
Students will be welcomed into a diverse and supportive community of staff and students from all over the world, with a wide variety of life experience. This makes QMUL a place of academic and personal self-discovery. Supporting the student on their journey helps students develop as independent thinkers, ready to make their own contribution to society. All this is just part of what makes QMUL such a special place to study.
QMUL has a distinguished history, dating back to 1123 (the foundation of St Bartholomew’s Hospital) and is now one of the largest colleges of the internationally recognised University of London and in the top 100 universities in the world (Times Higher Education World University Rankings, 2015).
The University currently has more than 20,000 students, of whom about one third are from overseas. With students and staff from more than 150 countries, this makes for a truly cosmopolitan environment that is welcoming to students from all over the world, being named as “one of the world’s 20 most international universities” in Times Higher Education (2015).
QMUL is the only college in the University of London to have an integrated teaching, research and residential campus in central London. Their main campus in the East End of London is located between the two financial areas of London – The City and Docklands – and is well served by public transport. Studying on campus means that students can experience all of the benefits of a campus community as well as the limitless opportunities of living in one of the safest areas to be a student in London (Complete University Guide ‘Crime in student cities and towns’ 2015).
