1) Check you meet the entry requirements
Go onto our website and look at the entry requirements for MA Interpreting and Translating (Chinese). The most important thing is to ensure that you meet the IELTs entry requirements and all other entry conditions. If you don’t meet the IELTs requirements unfortunately we can’t make you an offer.
2) Apply online
Follow the links on our website and make an application online. You will hear within six weeks if you have been successful.
3) Complete an online assessment pack
If you are successful in your application you will be sent an online assessment pack to complete. This will involve a translation assessment (written) and an interpreting assessment (verbal) from English to Chinese, and Chinese to English. You will be set a time limit of 48 hours to complete this assessment pack.
If you have applied through an agent it is very important that you also provide us with a personal email address so we can send the assessment pack directly to you, and you can complete this within 48 hours.
You will be informed within two weeks if you have passed the online assessment. You will then be notified by the end of January with an invitation to attend an interview. Please note applicants will not be given their interview date until the end of January.
The interviews are usually held in Beijing, Shanghai, Chongqing and Taiwan in March.
5) Confirmation of offer
Applicants will hear from us in May if they have been successful or unsuccessful in their interview. If you have been successful you will subsequently receive an offer to study MA Interpreting and Translating (Chinese) at the University of Bath.
If you have any queries about your application please log in to your Application Tracker. All notifications about your application, including assessments and interviews, will be sent via email. If you wish to receive this information from us straight away, please ensure you provide a personal email address in your online application. There is space in our application form to provide two email addresses if you have applied through an agent.
If your application is rejected, you can still apply to study with us the following year (applications open from the beginning of November). We recommend that you spend the next few months improving your English language level, keeping up to date with current affairs and applying when applications open for the following year.
