In October the School of Architecture held a welcome event for new international students arriving at Oxford Brookes. This is the second year that the event has been held with the Faculty.
There were over 40 students and staff in attendance. Guest speakers included Matt Gaskin Head of School of Architecture, Brookes Union President Andrew Pedersen, OxArch student society, Joe Goldman Department Rep for School of Architecture, and students from a number of countries. Some of the countries represented were Malaysia, Hong Kong, India, Norway and Thailand.
The event was developed by Rekha Giddy, Programme Administrator for School of Architecture, as an opportunity for students to mingle and get to know other students on the course. Students and guests engaged in ‘People Bingo’ and enjoyed cakes, light refreshments and mixed conversations. Matt Gaskin delivered a welcome introduction, followed by talks from the Students’ Union and OxArch. Students commented on how much they enjoyed the event and said it should definitely run next year.
The event took place on 8 October in the Abercrombie Building at Oxford Brookes University.
