SOAS University of London and I. B. Tauris publishers have announced an agreement to launch a new series of academic books relating to the history and contemporary world of Palestine.
The SOAS Palestine Studies Series will be developed under the direction of the SOAS Centre for Palestine Studies, with the aim of publishing peer-reviewed works by both established and first-time authors, on topics relating to Palestinian politics, history, media, development studies and current affairs.
To launch the new series the London Middle East Institute (LMEI) and I. B. Tauris have announced a ‘call for manuscripts’, inviting scholars and academics to submit their proposals.
Additionally, the Department of the Languages and Cultures of the Near and Middle East at SOAS have recently launched an exciting new postgraduate course, MA Palestine Studies.
The MA Palestine Studies will provide students with an overview of the ways in which varying bodies of scholarship across and intra various disciplines engage and study Palestine, and will examine how the study of Palestine cuts across and informs scholarly, theoretical, political and disciplinary approaches.
The flexible study programme and the interdisciplinary curriculum will allow students to develop an understanding of Palestinian history, political structure, development, identity, culture and society. At the same time, students will become familiar with different disciplinary approaches, models, and scholarship frameworks, and develop the ability to write critically on topics relevant to the study of Palestine.
