BEIJING (AP) — A book importer in China says it won’t distribute Hillary Clinton’s memoir “Hard Choices” due to sensitive content.
An employee at Shanghai Book Traders’ main office said Monday that it had canceled plans to distribute the book after discovering the content. The employee, who would give only his surname, Hua, refused to say which parts of the book the importer deemed sensitive.
Clinton’s memoir contains passages about Chinese censorship and dissident Chen Guangcheng.
Publisher Simon & Schuster said last week it regretted that no Chinese publishers had been allowed to translate the book and that the English-language version also wasn’t available.
