Why study at Kedleston Road?

Continuous improvement

Over the past few years over £100 million has been invested across all areas of the University of Derby. Recent highlights have included:

  • In 2010 the Kirtley Building was created and provided students with a state of gym.
  • We have also invested in wind turbines and solar energy panels which have significantly reduced expenditure and environmental impact.
  • We have also updated our library in a variety of ways from replacing existing study desks with bright, flexible new furniture and introducing  meeting pods as alternatives to the existing group study rooms

Modern library

The library has been designed into different zones so that students are able to have both group discussions as well as study privately in the quiet zone.

Sports facilities

The students union has a wide range of sports societies suitable for anyone interested in sports from beginners to experts. A gym facility is also available throughout the year at a discounted price for students.

Connected campus

Students are able to travel to and from each site in the Derby campus by a free shuttle bus. Busses are also available to transport students around the city of Derby connecting Kedleston Road, Derby city centre and Derby train station.

Employability hub

The student employment agency and the employability hub are available throughout the week. They both offer students a range of services and support in finding part time jobs as well as planning for their future careers.

Variety of places to eat

If you are looking to celebrate or just relax with your friends there is a variety of cafes and restaurants to enjoy great food and drink. The student union bar is available throughout the week for a drink after lectures as well as an affordable night out.

Weekly events

Many students come to Kedleston Road if their courses aren’t based there to enjoy the events that occur weekly.  There is a wide variety of entertainment options including comedians, DJs, musicians, high profile acts and performers.
