Working While Studying at University:

A Tier 4 (general) Student Visa permits students to work with some restrictions while studying in the UK. You are allowed to work up to 20 hours a week during term time.

Working part time while at University can be a great way of supporting yourself with extra income during term times.

The Student Employment Agency is run by the University and has been set up to provide you with the opportunity to have temporary/part- time paid jobs while studying. It is a chance for you to gain valuable work experience, essential in today’s competitive job market and an opportunity to earn extra cash. Jobs advertised by the agency are often single days of work which can be fitted around your studies.

The Student Employment Agency section of the website also offers help and advice on writing a CV and developing your skills.

The Universities Employability Hub showcases work available as well as work experience opportunities. The Hub also allows you to meet with employers in a variety of job sectors and hear from motivational guest speakers. In addition, there will be workshops and events provided by the careers and employment service, competitions and prizes, practical advice and master classes on how to start a business.

The Employability and Enterprise Hub is also a space for you to showcase and sell your work. Here, you will be able to work alongside employers on real world projects and prepare for your chosen career beyond your degree.
