How to meet other international students

The University of Derby has an international community of approximately 1,000 students from over 70 countries around the globe and there are a wide range of ways to get in touch with other international students. The international student centre will also be available to support students with anything concerning university or home life.

Social media

Before students even get off their plane they are able to get in contact with fellow international students via social media platforms such as the University of Derby – International.

International societies

International societies allow students to regularly socialise together. Societies also organise trips and events for members throughout the year. There are many international societies available including: Nigerian Society, Chinese Society, Indian Society, Saudi Society and many more.

The Students’ Union

The Students’ Union regularly organises events popular with all students, for example DJs, musicians, high profile acts and performers. Recent highlights have included Example, The Saturdays, Mr Hudson and The Sugababes.

Sports teams

Team Derby offers students of any sporting ability the opportunity to participate in the sports of their choice. Taking part in a sports team is a great opportunity to meet likeminded people.

Multi Faith Centre

The multi-faith Centre provides a space used by students for a variety of events throughout the year, as well as a place to practice your chosen religion.

For more information, prospective students can visit the ‘How to Apply’ section  of our website, contact the international team , or book a Skype appointment to talk with a counsellor.
