Thai opposition Democrat Party to boycott February elections

The leader of Thailand’s opposition Democrat Party, Abhisit Vejjajiva, has announced that his party will boycott general elections scheduled for February 2, 2014.

Speaking at a press conference in Bangkok Saturday, the former prime minister said, “We need to stop operating in such a political environment,” reiterating the need of “reform before elections.”

Abhisit added that the vote to boycott the polls was unanimous.
