League table success for Oxford Brookes Arts courses

Oxford Brookes School of Arts programmes have seen significant improvements in the most recent editions of three major university league tables.

Fine Art is now ranked 9th out of 83 in the Guardian University Guide, an improvement of 41 places since the 2013 tables. It also currently sits at 11th out of 76 in the Sunday Times University Guide 2013, and recently moved 26 places up the Good University Guide, ranked according to feedback from the National Student Survey.

Film Studies has also seen a big improvement – according to the Sunday Times it is ranked 25th out of 87, and the Guardian ranks it 27th out of 90. This is in addition to over 90% satisfaction on various aspects of teaching quality.

Music is now ranked 15th out of 77 by the Guardian, an increase of 10 places on 2013. Brookes’ course was also one of the few Music programmes to receive a value added score of 9/10. It currently sits at 22/101 in the Sunday Times, well into the upper quartile.

Publishing is very popular with the Sunday Times; in the 2013 tables the Brookes course takes the number one spot. According to the Guardian the programme has shifted up 29 places between 2013 and 2014, coming 27th out of 90.

Overall, Oxford Brookes has climbed 13 places in the Guardian since the 2013 tables to 35th position, and 12 subjects come within the top 20 in their field, up from seven last year.
