The International Hotel School supports Coastal Living Bru!
The Coastal Living Bru festival will be held at La Montagne Hotel Ballito on 2, 3 and 4 July from 4pm to 10pm daily at a cost of R30 per person with free entrance for kids under 12 and will provide a range of exciting stalls, competitions, live entertainment, fashion shows and more! There’s something for everyone!
Included in the exciting line up of events will be the much anticipated cooking competitions where a number of selected students from The International Hotel School’s Christina Martins Culinary Arts programmes will assist in The Coastal Living Fine Young Cooks Competition, with the elimination round due to take place at Hirsch’s Ballito on Saturday, June 22nd from 10am. This round will see a random selection of 24 contestants under the age of 12, participating in a “cook off” to secure a place in the final to be held on one night between 2, 3 and 4 July with the theme “Breakfast in bed for mom”. Only 12 contestants will compete in this final round alongside one student chef from IHS with a box of mystery ingredients and a time limit of 45 minutes to stand a chance to win fabulous prizes!
The IHS student chefs will also be involved in the “So you think you can cook, Ballito Style” main cooking event to be held over 2, 3 and 4 July, which will see 8 teams of 1 professional chef and 1 amateur chef battle in a “cook off” for 60 minutes for the coveted title of Mr Price Pro Ballito Chef with the main prize of R10 000 up for grabs.

IHS Sandton to show their “hot and spicy” talent at the Chilli Festival!
Six Christina Martin Culinary Arts students from The International Hotel School Sandton Campus will be seen demonstrating their exciting cooking skills at the Chilli Festival which will take place at the Killarney Mall in Johannesburg from 6 – 9 June 2013. Catch them from 12h00 to 14h00 daily for demonstrations using special ingredients to make chilli the champion of each day.
On Friday and Sunday they will be making Chilli Chocolate Mousse, Homemade Chilli Sauce, and Chilli Pineapple Pannacotta. On Thursday and Saturday they will be making Chilli Gel, Chilli Foam, Chilli Chocolate Gel, Chilli Caviar, and Chilli Jam. Come and show your support and celebrate all things hot and spicy at Killarney Chilli Festival!

Students from The International Hotel School Cape Town campus (from Left to Right) Samatha Fernandes, Keith Genu, Achima Gustafsson, Filipe dos Santos,Danja Marazzi, Bongile Fakude and Vanessa Nthele recently assisted with the set-up and service at the Table of Unity charity dinner at Table Mountain which was in support of charities focusing on the needs of abused, vulnerable and orphaned children in South Africa.
The students had a blast and look forward to the next one!

IHS fundraising car wash!
The International Hotel School will be hosting a car wash which is open to the public from noon on Thursday, February 21st at their Durban Campus, 124 Jan Hofmeyr Road in Westville. All profits go towards raising funds for the culinary arts department. In addition every driver will receive a free cupcake for their support.
