Over 75 international, European and UK students study Publishing at MA level annually within the Oxford International Centre for Publishing Studies, located in the School of Arts.
This successful and well-respected programme is now developing a distance-learning option which is searching for a new name to distinguish itself from campus-based courses, offering modules written specifically for online delivery.
The Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) will focus mainly on marketing and digital publishing, and aims to develop and assess the processes in delivering this content with communities of learners providing support for each other. Support for the development of the materials and the programme has been obtained from the Workforce Development Programme and the Faculty of TDE.

“I am delighted with the support from the Faculty that is enabling us to offer this exciting approach to Masters level studies in Publishing. There is already a lot of expertise in distance learning at Brookes and we are grateful for the generous advice we are receiving in taking this enterprise to completion. There remains a long way to go before we meet our first students, but we are clear what is needed to ensure Publishing continues to build on its reputation for delivering excellence.”
Publishing is aiming for validation in September, intending for the first cohort of students to start in January 2014. Following validation, applications will open in October through UKPASS for the initial student intake of 25 places, who will complete their part time studies in two years. Publishing have a database of over 120 enquiries and look forward to working with a diverse student group from many different countries.
