Study your Applied Petroleum Geoscience MSc course at the University of Derby

One of our students, Simon Greenfield, enjoyed his course.

At the University of Derby  we offer students the chance to study our  Applied Petroleum Geoscience MSc course. This course prepares students for a career within the petroleum industry and they are taught by lecturers who bring not only high quality teaching to the course but real world experience.

This course also benefits students thanks to its high degree of industry involvement giving students the latest thinking and techniques in many areas of the subject including petroleum geology, petroleum techniques and geological and commercial risk. Our external tutors are also active members of the oil industry who will provide strong links to help you with your future career. They will also be able to help you recognise your strengths and prepare yourself for the right sector of the industry.

This course is also available to study at three different levels. You can study the full MSc course which will take you a year to complete and runs from June to June. However, you can also study the course in stages. You can study for the certificate level and diploma level qualifications before you complete your master’s qualification. By breaking your degree down you will be able to study at a pace to suit you.

Simon Greenfield studied our Applied Petroleum Geoscience MSc course  after graduating from our  Geology BSc course. He currently works for Kirk Petrophysics as a core analyser. Simon had this to say about his courses “My geology and postgraduate degrees have prepared me really well for this role and I was really happy to take this opportunity to share my enthusiasm with current students.”
