Michelin-star chef joins 2012 UK Scholarship Award
Le Cordon Bleu London can announce an exciting development for the 2012 UK Scholarship Award, with the confirmation that Pierre Koffmann will offer this year’s winner a nine month apprenticeship working at his central London restaurant.
Koffmann has been at the heart of fine cuisine in Britain for over 35 years. His previous restaurant, La Tante Claire, set new standards for cooking in Britain while serving as an academy for many of today’s culinary superstars. Between them, his various protégés now boast over 20 Michelin stars in their own right. Koffmann is now head chef at the acclaimed Koffman’s at the Berkeley Hotel in Knightsbridge. On the award, he commented:
“I am absolutely delighted to be involved in this wonderful scholarship scheme. Le Cordon Bleu is a byword for culinary excellence: I regularly employ its graduates thanks to the first class training it provides. I am particularly pleased to be involved in this scholarship since it aims to give young people with limited means the chance to study Le Grand Diplôme.”
The scholarship – which is open to 17-20 year olds in the UK – provides the opportunity to win a place studying for our Grand Diplôme with accommodation in London provided, all worth over £30,000. Le Grand Diplôme is an intensive 9-month course that is widely considered to be the gold standard in culinary training.
