The Anglia Ruskin faculty of Science & Technology is one of the University’s largest, with more than 6,000 students enrolled across both its Cambridge and Chelmsford campuses. In recent years, the high calibre of research conducted through the faculty has gained international attention, which is in turn drawing greater interest from postgraduate students in Asia.
Coursework at the postgraduate level is highly relevant and informed by the cutting-edge research carried out by the faculty. This department has facilities on both campuses and offers coursework in computer science, information security and forensic computing, business information systems, media and internet technology, network infrastructure and security, computer gaming, audio and music technology, and electronics. Postgraduate students can pursue Master of Science degrees in Audio and Video Technology, Computer Science, Electronic and Electrical Engineering, Information and Communication Technology (conversion), Mobile Telecommunications, and Network Security.
This is a broad, interdisciplinary department, and it offers a comprehensive selection of postgraduate courses that span topics in engineering, architecture, construction, surveying, housing and real estate management. The department is housed in a new building on the Chemlsford campus and is outfitted with the latest laboratories and teaching facilities.
Master of Science degrees are available in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Construction Project Management, Engineering Management, Manufacturing Systems, Project Management, Sustainable Construction and Town Planning.
The Department of Life Sciences is located on the Cambridge campus and is divided into the following four subject areas: Animal and Environmental Biology, Biomedical and Molecular Science, Forensic Science, Sport and Exercise Sciences. The main postgraduate programmes are in Animal Behaviour: Applications for Conservation; and Forensic Science. This department boasts a suite of forensic science laboratories, complete with a scene of crime unit.
During the most recent Research Assessment Exercise, Anglia Ruskin was singled out for operating the top-rated psychology department within a new university. The department have carried that distinction and momentum through to the present, and continue to set industry standards.
Postgraduate offerings include Master of Science degrees in Clinical Child Psychology, Cognitive and Clinical Neuroscience and Research Methods in Psychology.
The Vision and Hearing Sciences department boasts top-ranked National Student Survey scores for Optometry and Ophthalmic Dispensing, due in part to the supportive research staff, close industry links and state-of-the-art clinical facilities. The University Eye Clinic is a strong selling point for undergraduates.
