Instead of using paint like most street artists, US-based artist Paige Smith leaves her mark on buildings by using sparkling 3D paper.
All across Los Angeles, Smith has tucked paper sculptures that look like crystal and geode formations, into the corners of old buildings, nondescript walls and pipes.
Smith views her paper sculptures as unexpected treasures, akin to mineral formations found on hiking trails.
Through her art, Smith wishes to highlight the short attention span that people today have due to busy schedules.
“Design is a means to an end,” Smith says. “An effective design creates a bridge between an idea and a recipient. The key term is effective. The creative challenge lies in finding a design solution that doesn’t just hang there but is an active conduit for communication.”
