The Kemmy Business School at the University of Limerick in Ireland offers an impressive array of business degree programs. The state-of-the-art Kemmy Business School building opened in 2008, and has become a center for research and study in all aspects of international business practice and culture.

Kemmy enrolls about 3,000 students currently, and has a staff of about 100 highly qualified instructors. Undergraduate, postgraduate and professional degrees are all available at the school. Kemmy is accredited through the European Foundation for Management Development.

The school operates with the goal to “inform and shape thinking to meet challenges in work, business and society.”

The Kemmy MBA programmes began in 1984, and have developed a reputation for the excellent training graduates receive. Each MBA course is a part-time programme and takes two years to complete. They are open to students from both the public and private sectors.

The Corporate MBA programme is comprehensive and covers areas such as Organisational Behaviour, Financial Reporting, International Political Economy, International Management, Globalisation & International Economic Issues, Market Orientation & Customer Focus and Corporate Strategic Analysis, Relationship Marketing; Strategic Leadership, and Creativity, Innovation & Entrepreneurship.

Classes are scheduled on a block system, making it easy for students to work with their employers to develop a schedule that allows them to study and continue their professional duties at the same time.

A benefit of studying at Kemmy is its specialized courses, which are a boon to those with a very specific career path in mind. Kemmy offers a corporate MBA in aviation management. This applies to prospective students who come from all over the aviation industry, from sectors such as airlines, aviation and related asset leasing and financial sectors.

This course offers an in-depth learning experience through which students learn about the many and varied aspects of the aviation business field, and can bring this knowledge back to their companies and become innovative leaders in their business community.

Kemmy also offers numerous management training programmes as part of its professional education system. Professionals interested in bolstering their credentials and advancing their knowledge of their fields may enroll in part-time courses in general management or health services management.

Master’s programmes are offered in international tourism, taxation, human resource management, risk management and insurance, international management and global business, economic analysis, computational finance, and several other areas.

Bachelor’s degree programs are offered in law and accounting, economics and mathematical sciences, business studies with French, German or Japanese, health services or human resources management, and economics and sociology.

The Kemmy business facilities are impressive and conducive to hands-on, practical and theoretical learning. Among the numerous state-of-the-art facilities are a simulated trading floor, a marketing technology suite, applied economics and computer laboraties, a student enterprise center, reading rooms, and lecture theatres that can seat between 100 and 360 students.

Kemmy is a member of the EFMD, as well as the European Institute for Advanced Studies in Management (EIASM). In 2008, Kemmy became the first business school in Ireland to sign on to the United Nation’s initiative on responsible management education, known as Principles for Responsible Management Education (PRME).

Research is of great importance at Kemmy, and most research projects fall under one of four umbrella categories. These are Work, Knowledge and Employment, Services Economy and Tourism, Entrepreneurship, Innovation and Marketing, and Public Policy, Enterprise, Governance and Sustainability.

Kemmy takes research integrity seriously and the school Ethics Committee is consulted for any projects that involve direct experimentation on individuals, surveys or questionnaires administered to individuals, and the use of data derived from individual records where individuals might be identified. This helps to ensure a fair and humane method of research, and instills a sense of ethics in students that they will carry forward after graduation.
