LAHORE, Pakistan (AP) — Pakistan’s state TV says an American CIA security contractor is appearing in court in connection with accusations he murdered two Pakistani men.
The case against Raymond Davis has greatly complicated the relationship between the United States and Pakistan at a vital stage in the war in Afghanistan.
Government prosecutor Abdus Samad said Davis would be handed legal documents on Friday that detail the case against him. He said Davis would be formally charged at a later date.
The hearing is taking place behind closed doors in a jail.
The U.S. insists Davis has diplomatic immunity and should be released. Pakistani officials say the matter is up to the courts.
