Through the University of Nottingham Ningbo China, engineering students can earn a degree while living and studying in one of China’s burgeoning boomtowns. Factor in a wealth of internships and the chance to study abroad in the UK, and it’s difficult to imagine a better place for aspiring engineers to get their start.
The UNNC offers students the chance to earn a British engineering degree under the instruction of highly qualified staff from all over the world. A comprehensive range of programmes is available.
Ningbo is a global crossroads of development. According to Forbes, it’s China’s seventh-best city for business. It’s also a thriving port (ranking in the global top five) with an exciting nightlife and entertainment scene. This is a fantastic opportunity to live in China at the height of its development, forging valuable networks that extend into East and West hemispheres.
The Faculty of Science and Engineering is cross-disciplinary, bringing the departments of engineering, computer science and geographical sciences together under one roof. The faculty offers a comprehensive list of undergraduate programmes, along with a MSc in Engineering Survey and Geodesy and a PhD programme that operates under the flexible supervision of UNNC and the University of Nottingham UK (UNUK). At the PhD-level, the final award is through UNUK and is recognised by the Chinese Ministry of Education.
The following are the major degree subject areas offered at the undergraduate level:
BEng (Hons) Architecture
This is a project-based course supported by lectures in the Architectural Sciences and Humanities. It hinges on the study of environmental design and historical precedents.
BEng (Hons) Architectural Environment Engineering
Students explore apply the principles of Architectural Environment Engineering to the sustainable development of the built environment.
BEng (Hons) Civil Engineering
A classical Civil Engineering degree explores virtually every aspect of the built environment – an area of study that’s of particular importance in rapidly developing Ningbo.
BEng (Hons) Environmental Engineering
This field of study is a growing concern in an increasingly developed world; students learn to harmonise commercial and industrial activities with the environments in which they operate.
BEng (Hons) Mechanical Engineering
Coursework in this field of study leverages scientific knowledge to address problems in the design, development and implementation of machines.
BEng (Hons) Environmental Sciences
This programme develops understanding of ecological processes and environmental systems, placing them in the context of society, economics and culture.
BEng (Hons) Chemical Engineering
Students of Chemical Engineering learn to process materials into products that can be used in everything from manufacturing to energy production.
BEng (Hons) Electrical and Electronic Engineering
Of increasing importance in the 21st century, this field has applications in myriad industries and sectors.
BEng (Hons) Product Design and Manufacture
Students in this course gain an intimate understand of design processes and the systems employed in product development.
BEng (Hons) Mechatronic Engineering
