Sacred Heart University is based in Connecticut, USA, where it offers comprehensive degree programs against a backdrop of Catholic tradition and heritage. The university’s Luxembourg branch offers a competitive international business program that combines strong ties to the US and a strategic location in one of the EU’s leading financial centers.
The Princeton Review ranks the John F. Welch College of Business in the world’s top 300 business schools. The Luxembourg branch is located in the Chamber of Commerce, and works closely with the corporate community. In fact, the active Board of Regents consists of CEOs from several major companies in Luxembourg. Students benefit from SHU’s network, and completion of the Welch MBA places them on a short-list of elite candidates for professional leadership around the world.
The Welch MBA with Internship
The John F. Welch College of Business (named for the former CEO of General Electric who continues to be a major supporter of the business school) has been operating in Luxembourg for more than 20 years. Its newly created full-time MBA with Internship program is designed for young graduates with limited or no work experience. Through the process of earning a Welch MBA, students hone their business acumen, develop advanced leadership strategies and put all of this to work during a dynamic internship. The college works closely with corporate entities in Luxembourg to tailor remunerated internships, thus adding invaluable experience to the students’ CV.
The next Welch MBA with internship cohort starts in mid-August 2014. The internship usually runs for nine months. In all, the program takes 16 months to complete, beginning in mid-August or mid-July if preparatory courses are required. Classes are held on weekday evenings and occasionally on Saturday mornings. For the last few months, students return full-time to academic life, take elective courses and complete project work.
Plenty of factors set this MBA program apart from the competition. First of all, this is an American MBA with a strong international foundation. All of the courses are taught in English, and students even have the option to travel to Sacred Heart’s main campus in Connecticut for add-on courses. Even better, graduates from outside the EU may be able to obtain a two-year work permit in Luxembourg following the MBA program.
