A variety of awards are available at IMI. At the certificate and diploma level, students learn the fundamentals needed to transform a career in hospitality. As of 2014, a host of new MA programmes will also be on offer.
The following are some of the most popular programmes offered at IMI:
IMI Global Business Management Programme
Students earn a BA in Global Business Management in this programme, and in the process they gain essential understanding of the world’s markets and economy. The programme spans four semesters, with the possibility of interjecting a paid internship. Graduates assume positions of leadership with multinationals, and many go on to pursue an MA in Strategic Business Management with IMI.
ICI International Culinary Arts Programme
The International Culinary Institute Switzerland (accredited by IMI) offers in-depth coursework that covers the entire gamut of practical training in the culinary arts. The approach is hands-on and draws on myriad culinary traditions. Classes are taught by a team of seasoned experts who ensure that each student benefits from paid practical training after every semester.
IMI Luzern MBA
An intensive, three-semester programme, the IMI Luzern MBA offers four distinct pathways of study. The coursework is hospitality focused with ten core modules. In addition to this, students choose to specialise in Sustainable Hotel and Tourism Management, Social Media Marketing, Luxury Brands and Services Management or Swiss Hotel Management Operations.
Each semester lasts 22 weeks. The first is an intensive residential programme that’s taught on campus. During the second, students gain professional practice in the hospitality industry – either in Switzerland or abroad. The final semester sees students writing a dissertation or engaging in a field consulting project.
In addition to the MBA, IMI University Centre has several other postgraduate programmes that are currently coming online. These include MAs in Tourism Planning and Management, International Events Management and Global Strategic Management.
