Matthew Hancock MP to Present UK Scholarship Award
Le Cordon Bleu is pleased to announce that our UK Scholarship Award will this year be presented by Matthew Hancock MP, Government Minister for Skills, at the Grand Final on March 27th 2013.
Mr Hancock will present the award after an intense day of activity, which will see a demonstration by one of our Master Chefs followed by a practical assessment of the 8 finalists in one of the state of the art kitchens at our London institute. A panel consisting of Le Cordon Bleu Master Chefs and members of our academic committee will then deliberate before selecting this year’s UK Scholarship Award recipient.
On the scholarship award, Mr Hancock commented:
“I am delighted to be asked to present Le Cordon Bleu’s UK Scholarship Award. For anyone who loves food, Le Cordon Bleu means the very best. This is a great opportunity for someone with a passion for food to learn their trade in a high-calibre environment. By combining learning and work experience, apprenticeships give the skills employees need to compete, and this scheme combines strong examples of both. I wish the winner the best of luck with the scholarship, and hope that perhaps it will support them to be the Pierre Koffmann of the future.”
Less than 45 days remain until the closing date for applications on Thursday 28 February before our judging panel decides which applicants will progress to the semi-final. Of the 16 semi-finalists, only 8 will return to London for the Grand Final where one passionate 17-20 year old will gain a unique opportunity to pursue a future in the culinary and hospitality industry.
