Google Maps is proving to be an unlikely source of inspiration for creatives.

Bay Area-based digital artist Jenny Odell has taken images she’s found on Google Satellite View and pieced them together into strangely beautiful collages.

These thematic collages not only feature commonly seen landmarks like stadiums, swimming pools and parking lots but also less visited sites like nuclear cooling towers and landfills.

Grouped together and seen from an aerial perspective, these collages made the man-made structures we take for granted look fantastical and new.

It really is about how you look at things.
