Top 3 MBA Job Search Myths

Myth #1. “I’m not going to look for a new job until I get closer to finishing my MBA.”  Students who attend MBA programs in Virginia can expect their job search to take 4 -6 months. It may take longer for career changers. Don’t wait until graduation, start building your networks and attending career-related events right away. You never know when you’ll meet someone who will help you find the perfect MBA position!

Myth # 2. “I’ve done a job search before, I don’t need help.” There are so many ways MBA Career Management can help. While we help students on all career related issues, our top request is to help students refine resumes to reflect newly acquired skills. We can help you position yourself to take the next step in your career.

Myth #3. “I’m a part time MBA, I’m not sure Career Management can help?” Graduate Career Management is eager to help full time and part time students realize their career goals. Often, part time Mason MBA students want to learn how to market themselves within their current company or organization, while others discover a new career interest after taking a particularly compelling class. We are delighted to work with all Mason MBA and MSA students. Contact Kerry Willigan at with questions or to schedule an appointment.
