US-based F.A.T Lab and Sy-Lab have created the Free Universal Construction Kit that allows different types of brick toys to be assembled together.

Making use of the increasingly popular 3D printing technology, the kit is a set of 300 3D printed “adapter” blocks.

Although different brands are not compatible with each other, with this kit, users can build using a multitide of bricks like LEGO, Lincoln Logs, K’NEX, Zome and Tinkerkots.

“That’s really what every kid wants, an unrestricted set of tools to express their imagination physically,” says the team.

If you have a 3D printer of your own, the piece templates are downloadable for free here in .STL format.
