German designer Iris Shieferstein creates footwear using body parts of dead animals.
In her series of shoes, horse hooves and skin, snake skin, and dead birds are used as raw materials.
According to Oddity Central, Schieferstein collects dead animal parts from her butcher for her unique footwear.
Schieferstein strips the meat and bones off the carcasses, and sends the skin to the tanner to be preserved. After that, she sets the fur skin around the model of a shoe.
For horse parts, she uses the hoof as a sole.
Schieferstein told Oddity Central: “When I’ve got the dove shoes on that are made from real birds, I feel like I’m flying,” she says.
