Brooklyn-based photographer Thomas Jackson has captured a lone robot’s attempt at co-existing with the natural world.

Titled ‘The Robot’, the collection portrays the robot doing the ordinary and mundane things that well, us humans do.

Bordering on dark humor, the series traces the robot’s failure to survive, culminating in its eventual and tragic death.

According to Jackson, his work seeks to explore the “uneasy, opposing emotions Mother Nature provokes in us: fear and fascination, reverence and contempt, attaction, revulsion, greed, guilt”.

He explained that he chose to build the series around a robot as it “seemed an apt representation of our otherness within the natural word”.

His photos are also available as a limited edition book made with sheet metal and salvaged wood (see video below).
