A group of middle school students have been arrested for sexually assaulting a younger female classmate.
Amid a recent spate of incidents of school violence, many are saying that special policies are needed to deal with teenagers who cross the line of sexual assault.
The Dunsan Police Station in Daejeon announced on the 13th that it had arrested 15-year-old A, a third-year middle school student, and nine other students on charges of sexually assaulting a younger female classmate and introducing her to friends who also sexually assaulted her.
According to the police, on September 1st A and one other of the students were drinking alcohol at his girlfriend’s house when the girlfriend lured in 14-year-old B, whom they then took turns sexually assaulting after she also drank alcohol.
To prevent her from going to the police or school authorities, on the 19th of that month, A and the others called her to park near the school, where they sexually molested her and attempted to sexually assault her.
A member of the police said: “We learned of what happened when B went to the school for counseling about the depression she suffered from the assaults.”
Police arrested A and one other male student, and the girlfriend who lured B into the home, on charges of special rape and conspiracy.
