Animation – This three-year Advanced Diploma introduces students to state-of-the-art technology and teaches them all the skills they need to make a mark in the exciting and competitive computer animation industry. From gaming and entertainment to web design and software development, there is an ever-growing demand for qualified creative professionals with a good understanding of the latest technology. Students can specialize in year three to help them hone their skills for their preferred career path, while they also benefit from two internships during the duration of the program.
Graphic Design – Another three-year Advanced Diploma, Loyalist’s Graphic Design program focuses on creativity and design thinking, technical skills and social intelligence skills. As well as the academic and practical skills, this program has a strong focus on digital media with particular focus on design software such as Photoshop and InDesign, as well as modules covering Web Design, Design for Interactive Media, and Motion Graphics. Graduates emerge fully equipped to find employment in areas such as the entertainment industry, web design, advertising and publishing.
Journalism – Online, Print and Broadcast – As the name suggests, this three-year Advanced Diploma covers all the key areas needed for a successful start to a career in the media. This program prepares students for employment in radio, television, newspaper, magazine and online newsrooms. In addition, a keen focus on online and digital media ensures graduates are ready to adapt in this fast-changing industry. Students learn about digital photography, video production and the basics of web design, before honing in on their Internet journalism skills in the E-Journalism module in Semester 4.

Photojournalism – This two-year program is ideal for anyone with a flair for telling stories through photographs. The first year teaches the basic mechanics of journalism and photography, including reporting and writing, news judgment, camera operation and lighting, as well as electronic publishing, video capture and the principles of storytelling. In the second year, students concentrate on advanced photojournalism techniques, expanding their skills with digital photography, video capture and computer-based image processing. Students get to work on Loyalist’s award-winning online community newspaper, The Pioneer, and QNET News – the local Quinte area’s most comprehensive news source. Apply for advanced standing entry if you have a university degree, college diploma or journalistic experience – and graduate in 15 months.
Loyalist-Trent Journalism Program - This program combines the best of college and university education while delivering a firm grounding in the skills needed to launch a career in journalism. Graduates earn an Ontario college advanced diploma in Journalism (Online, Print and Broadcast) from Loyalist College, as well as a Trent University joint-major honours (B.A. or B.Sc.) degree in Journalism and another discipline of their choice. The program can be completed in four or five years of full-time study, depending on the discipline.
Broadcast Engineering Technology - This one-of-a-kind three-year Advanced Diploma was designed with input from the industry, based on today’s requirements and their expectations of future directions. Every radio and television broadcasting or satellite distribution system runs on complex systems – hardware and software – creating a high demand for skilled engineering expertise. There continues to be a growing need for new graduates who are trained on the latest systems. Furthermore, two work placements of 4 and 8 weeks provide students with real-life experience and job contacts. This program is fully accredited by the Society of Broadcast Engineers in the United States.
3D Video Production – 3D is back, and this fast track two-semester postgraduate course provides a unique learning experience for anyone who wants to make a mark in the entertainment industry. Students use the latest software, equipment and production processes to hone their skills and create their own 3D productions. Perfect for students who already have 2D production training, this program also opens doors to employment opportunities in web production and mobile production.

Campus & Facilities
Loyalist College sits on a beautifully wooded 200-acre campus within easy reach of housing, shopping, and entertainment of all kinds. Students have all the facilities they need on campus for study and relaxation, including student centre, fitness centre, cafeteria, bookstore and library.

Loyalist College houses some of its students in the on-campus residence complex, with room for 580 students across nine buildings. Students in residence have all the facilities they need, including internet, cable television and laundry. For those who prefer to live off-campus, the College provides assistance in finding private accommodation.
Loyalist also offers a range of student services, which can be of particular value to new international students settling into their new life. College staff are on hand to help with everything from immigration information to English language and career advice.
Life in Canada
Situated two hours east of Toronto the city of Belleville has a population of approximately 50,000 and offers shopping and entertainment of all kinds. The beaches, boating, fishing and leisurely walkways of the Lake Ontario waterfront are also close at hand.
And for students who want to explore further afield, Highway 401, Ontario’s major east-west traffic artery, passes within a few kilometres of the campus and trains, buses, and local transit make getting around a cinch.
