Years after the crimes at the Gwangu Inhwa School that formed the basis for the movie “The Crucible”, other incidents of sexual abuse have emerged.
They have been newly reported just 10 days after the special police investigation of sexual violence at the Inhwa School.
The Gwangju Provincial Police Agency announced that “we have confirmed information that in 1996 and 1997 two teachers forcibly molested two teenagers, then aged 12 and 13.”
The results were first learned from the confessions of the abusers who had denied the charges.
Jeong Gyeong-chae, investigator with GPPA: “We investigated the statements of the victims to determine if they were true, including using a lie detector test, and found that they were.”
The teachers in question were separate from the four people, including the principal and administrative head, found to have committed abuse in 2005, and the victims were also separate.
However, these incidents have all passed the statute of limitations and further punishment of the abusers is not possible.
Police communicated the facts of the sexual abuse to the oversight and administration agency, and said that administrative action will be taken.
