Of course, Edhi is not a saint, he is a human being. He could be lying. He could misremember. He could be playing politics. But I’m inclined to trust his word. You may disagree.

And since this post will invariably be overtaken by PTI trolls starting in three…two…one…let me save you the trouble and write out your comment for you:

Update: One thing I hope everyone notes is the name of the other person involved in this, Mr. Hamid Gul. You see, PTI supporters, when we say your Great Leader is a Taliban without a beard, and is WAY too close to certain elements in the ISI, we’re not insane. You can judge a lot about a man by the company he keeps.

yeah i remember this story: it was all very odd. Hamid Gul wasn’t in the ISI at the time but he did encourage Imran Khan to go into politics.

Ref: Edhi yeah he has done some stupid things, supporting Zia, the whole debacle with his 2nd wife ..but on the whole he is a man who deserves some respect for his social activism. His political views are another issue altogether..

Imran Khan, in my views, and to me has always been a highly respected legendary cricketer, a graceful gentleman, a compassionate humanist and that’s not it, but also a stupid self-proclaimed leader, an arrogant lime-light crazy lame politician who has always known by heart he would only need a shoulder, and a ladder to reach to power …whether or not by fair means. E.g., (1) clinging to Musharraf in his early era (2) and then, one after another with all others who he wishfully had thought might bring him in power (3) always backed by (a particular segment in) agencies while himself shouting it out aloud- indirectly addressing the institution in power; Army- for a chance to be given (4) he is so lame that he keeps on doing so just to prove he can never be leader for he (5) never applies in his own pocket-sized party what he points out in others (6) his masters are the same king makers as always, unfortunately! (7) over these decade, he couldn’t even bring ahead, shoulder-to-shoulder, even a single parallel individual even from inside his party who could second him, all his party (or even IKF) workers are just servants being used, just like other parties, so he is no different! Coz he’s affirmative at knowing these aren’t the people, nor his could-be voters, who’d put him in power :-) Accept my apologies, but at least I am unaccustomed to blind faith! For I do acknowledge and accredit good deeds even if by a disliked personality, Imran would unconditionally remain the highly respected legendary cricketer, a graceful gentleman, a compassionate humanist to me for that’s all he has ever proven, and liked for!!!

Oh, and if any of you guys are still content with a ‘lesser evil’ to rule you, God bless YOU! For I accept my own apologies in anticipation for not being one of you at this, again, cordially!

Maybe its rivalry of the philanthropists. Looks like a response to the fact that IK has secured highest favorable rating according to PEW in Pakistan.

This fleeing incident of his took place in 1994, I can’t imagine Imran Khan Hamid Gul going to IMRAN KHAN and ganging up on Edhi.

Edhi nowhere in the video mentions Imran personally threatened him.After all,it’s a liberal propaganda having no feet and head.

I think, for now, that’s good to shut guys like myself up.

The PTI Chairman Mr Imran Khan has met Mr Edhi only once and that was when he was collecting funds for SKMT in 1994. He met on the recommendation of Dr Haroon who was the physio of the Pakistan team. Mr Khan remembers that Dr Haroon was also the Trustee of the Edhi Foundation and he insisted with Mr Khan that Edhi Sahib is in London and that they must meet up. Khan Sahib was then neither in politics nor was he interested in politics. Khan Sahib says that he met with Mr Edhi in London. Mr Khan remembers that all that transpired, details of which can still be confirmed from Dr Haroon, was that as there were only two major NGO’s on Pakistan then SKMT and Edhi, they both should form a pressure group to push the government into spending more on Health, Education and Welfare. The discussion of a pressure group was purely in this regard. Mr Imran Khan never met Mr Edhi along with Lt Gen ® Hameed Gul, and never was any discussion held with Mr Edhi regarding politics. Mr Khan continues to respect Mr Edhi for his philanthropic work. I would request all of you to put this clarification everywhere Mr Edhi’s statement is being printed, and would also request Mr Omar Cheema to issue a press release to the paper where Mr Edhi’s statement has been published. Hamid Gul has nothing to do with Imran Khan, he didnt even come to the dharnas. Hamid gul doenst even believe in democracy he is pursuing some taliban style government in pakistan and was part of the Zia-ul-haq government, which Imran Khan has condemned.Imran Khan is not pro taliban, if you think he is then you clearly dont read beyond the headlines. But Ahsan, come on, arent you reading a bit too much in to Edhi’s statement. All i can glean from it was that those three people met him and wanted to make a party or force of similarly-clean (Hameed Gul is under that illusion as well) people. I read somewhere that even Hakim saeed was contacted.
They might have tried hard to pull him in, be to persistent, and even the putting him on stage with them could have been said in a jest due to genuine (but imagined) camaraderie.
