Bloomberg:

Thai Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva told a forum of bankers and asset managers today that an election would be held by the end of June, according to an e- mailed statement released by his office.

Abhisit made the comments in Bangkok to the CLSA Asean Investors’ Forum, the statement from his Government House office said. Reporters were not allowed into the forum.

The Prime Minister has made it clear he will not stay until the end of his term, and the election will be held within the first half of this year,” the statement said, summarizing his opening speech.

BP: The statement in Thai states “นายกรัฐมนตรีได้พูดอย่างชัดเจนแล้วว่าจะไม่ดำรงตลอดจนครบวาระ และจะให้มีการเลือกตั้งภายในช่วงครึ่งปีแรกของปีนี้” so Bloomberg‘s translation is accurate. If he wants an election by the end of June, he will need to dissolve parliament by May 15 at the latest (per Section 108 of the Constitution which states that a new general election must be held “not less than forty-five days but not more than sixty days as from the day the House of Representatives has been dissolved”
