The highlight of this semester was the first exchange program between Southbank Institute of Technology and Genesee College in upstate New York, USA. The two nursing students, mentored by their teacher, attended the Princess Alexandra Hospital in Brisbane for four weeks’ clinical placement during a six-week stay. The clinical placement was to complete their studies in the acute nursing area.

The students really enjoyed their cultural exchange and have many happy memories to take home. They were able to visit Australia Zoo and were amazed at how blue the Pacific Ocean was when they visited Surfers Paradise, our Gold Coast. It is anticipated that students from Brisbane will exchange in either November 2010 or April 2011. Both parties look forward to the exciting offerings of this program.
