It just took a very quick clip in the latest Glee episode, which showed the logo of the Philippines’ most loved fastfood chain, to unleash a torrent of Tweets from Filipinos across the world.
The avalanche of tweets about the Glee clip catapulted Jollibee to the list of trending topics on Twitter — and booted out Twitter trending topic mainstay Justin Bieber out of the picture.
Online news outlets quickly noticed the gleeful Tweets and promptly reported on the surging wave of Filipino pride.
Jollibee consistently beats McDonald’s in the contest for the Filipino palate. It has over 600 stores located across the Philippines, and 50 restaurants in five countries, including the United States.
The Twitter wave by Filipinos for their beloved Jollibee has provided a positive reprieve from the post-election lull.
Filipinos also used Twitter to report on what happened in the May 10 elections straight from polling precincts and canvassing centers.
