First, let me introduce myself. I am Manpreet Kaur from India. I am currently doing my Bachelor of Commerce major in Accounting and Finance at Griffith University. I am in second year at the moment.

Being an international student , I can say with confidence that it was a courageous and far reaching decision to leave home in India for Griffith University , Australia, where i know that no one knows me. But the warm welcome i have received from Griffith  University makes me realise that it was a good decision, taken at the right time.

Griffith University  offers a wide range of graduate and postgraduate courses to international students. The support system that Griffith provides for all the students is capable of making any  International student feel safe and comfortable and helps in making their transition easy and simple. Griffith International Office assists all international students from their arrival at Griffith.

During the orientation, students receive all the basic information they need to help them settle into university life in Australia. Students get a chance to get familiar with the campus and campus tours conducted by Griffith International Mates help a lot in that. Griffith International Mates are the students who have already done their one semester at Griffith and help new students feel comfortable at the university. The fun, facts and friends day  during the orientation gives a chance to International Students to interact with one another and the senior students as well.

As far as the teaching is concerned, Griffith University has highly competent lecturers, tutors and academic advisors. Students are offered every possible help in regard to their Academic Study .Tutorials and Consultations help students a lot in their understanding the courses related problems. Moreover,  English Help is available to all international students. English Help provides individual language tuition and support for international and non-English-speaking-background students. Students can book a free 45 minute appointment with an English language instructor at any campus.

The Student Services Department at Griffith offers a wide range of services to students, including free, confidential careers, chaplaincy, counselling, equity/disability, health and welfare services. I am currently working as a Student Partner with Student Services, so I can say from personal experience that Student Services offers a lot of help to all students. 

The campuses are huge at Griffith and the university understands that there is more to college life than just lectures and assignments. Various communities, societies and clubs  are found on the campus which students can join. Griffith offers excellent sporting facilities as well .

Recently, nine international students from Grifffith were selected as Brisbane International Student Ambassadors by Brisbane Marketing. All these Ambassadors will be working on promoting Brisbane among International Students and I feel fortunate to be one of them .

From my personal experience so far, I  can say that Griffith offers excellent services to International Students. I have enjoyed my stay so far at Griffith, and expect the same for the rest of my time here.
