Earlier today the red shirts went to Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva’s house to symbolically throw blood. BBC reports:

Thai protesters have hurled plastic bags filled with gallons of blood in a symbolic protest at the prime minister’s house in Bangkok.

Security forces agreed to let a few of the red-shirted demonstrators splatter the blood outside the compound of Prime Minister Abhisit Vejajjiva.

Police and troop reinforcements were drafted in at the last minute to the prime minister’s house, sparking fears of a confrontation.

The government had said it would ban the protest, but once again a negotiated solution was found.

Several dozen demonstrators were allowed through the police cordon carrying plastic bottles filled with blood, which was poured into small plastic bags and then thrown at the home.

Having said that this Thai Rath article posted just after midnight states that a senior police officer (พล.ต.ต.วิชัย สังข์ประไพ) went to the red shirt rally last night and spoke to the red shirt leadership about the route that will be taken to go to the PM’s house so there seems some level of alerting the police to their route they will take (to lessen the traffic problems?)

Noted author Christopher Moore has some commentary and photos at his blog. Key excerpt:

People in the surrounding buildings were out on their terraces or the street snapping photographs of the crowds. Those who stood on the street waved encouraged. And a number of the locals displayed makeshift red stripes of cloth which they waved at the crowd.

Patrick and Newley have photos. AP also have some commentary and some views from local residents here.

BP: Was going to ask where now for the red shirts, but since they have been talking about that on stage tonight will blog about that later.
