The first report by The Nation was that it was definitive that Thaksin was in Cambodia:

PM’s secretary Chavanon Indharakomansut said Thaksin travelled to Siem Reap province of Cambodia by his private jet.

Thai foreign ministry has already contacted its embassy in Phnom Penh to monitor Thaksin’s activities in Cambodia, Chavanont said

The Bangkok Post reported differently:

The Foreign Ministry is checking a report that former prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra has been expelled by the United Arab Emirates and is heading for Siem Reap, Cambodia, according to Chavanont Intarakomalsut.

Mr Chavanont is secretary to Foreign Minister Kasit Piromya, said on Friday the ministry is seeking confirmation.

BP: Should note that Matichon‘s report is exactly the same as The Nation‘s report.

Later reports by The Nation had more cautious language:

Chavanond Intarakomalyasut, secretary to Foreign Minister Kasit Piromya, first floated news that Thaksin had landed by private jet in Siem Reap in the morning.

The Thai Embassy in Phnom Penh was verifying the information and would report back to the ministry about Thaksin’s activities in Cambodia, he said.

Vice Foreign Minister Panich Vikitsreth said he had learnt that following a Thai request, Dubai had asked Thaksin to leave as the United Arab Emirates did not want him to use the country as a launching PAD for attacks against the Thai government.

He might travel to the country he is familiar with and where he has a close association with its leaders,” he said, without naming the destination.

There were no reports from Cambodia on whether Thaksin had arrived in the country.

Acting Government Spokesman Panitan Wattanayagorn said the ex-premier had travelled from one country to another, but there was no clear information on his current whereabouts.

BP: One should note that Chavanond is Kasit’s private secretary, he is not a foreign ministry official seconded to work for Kasit, but a Democrat.

Matichon reports Noppadol Pattama, Thaksin’s legal advisor, as stating that UAE has not expelled Thaksin. He states that Thaksin will travel to Europe to meet his children, but did not want to disclose which country he would travel to so as not create any problems for that country. He stated that Thaksin would not travel to Cambodia during the time of the red shirt protests.

Thaksin himself tweets that there is news report that I have been expelled from UAE [and have] gone to Siem Reap [in Cambodia] (มีข่าวว่าผมถูกขับออกจากUAEไปอยู่ที่เสียมเรียบ). He denies this stating it is not true (ไม่จริงนะครับผม) and that he is still in Dubai and tomorrow will go to Europe to meet his daughters (ยังอยู่ท่ีดูไบพรุ่งนี้จะเดินทางไปยุโรปพบกับลูกสาวทั้งสองคน).

BP: It is unlikely that Thaksin has been expelled as the govenment has been trying to state he was under close watch and would be expelled from Dubai for a while, but from what BP has heard from people within the foreign ministry is that Dubai is moving very slowly and shows little interest in doing anything. Thaksin is likely to travel outside of Dubai when he makes speeches for the red shirt rallies (assume he will do a phone-in or two on Sunday) or at least provide the UAE with plauisble deniability that Thaksin is out of the country. Whether he is or not is a different matter, but given his daughters are in Europe, it would make sense that he would go there. But Thaksin being in Cambodia is very unlikely.

btw, floating a story = making something up and throwing it to the gullible media who will reprint anything without checking
