Hat tip to reader Christina M., who also supplied the translation.
A local fisherman in Yeosu reportedly made over 14,000,000 won with his catch of a minke whale on the weekend.
Fisherman Choi along with the coastguard followed the whale for about five miles before catching it. The whale, measuring 4.3 x 2.8m and weighing over a ton, was caught legally with the use of a net and has already been sold to the 수산물상회 buffet.
Delighted, Choi commented that he didn’t set out intending to find a whale but he is happy to have been so fortunate.
According to the Jeollanam-do coast guard, two minke whales are captured off the east coast of Yeosu each year.
