The much-anticipated bout between Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather may not push through, said a report of Philippine broadcast network GMA.

GMA News reported that Mayweather’s demand for Pacquiao to undergo a drug test two or three days before their scheduled match is not acceptable to the Filipino boxer, with the disagreement threatening next year’s bout between the two.

Pacquiao said he is ready for any test not later than 30 days or a month before his ring meeting with Mayweather.

Pacquiao is worried that drug tests just days before a fight may affect his performance in the ring, said the news report.

Mayweather is endangering his return to boxing by making this obvious public-relations stunt. He should agree to Pacquiao’s counter-offer of tests to be done a month prior to their fight.

This is the first time a Pacquiao opponent raised doubts on whether the world’s pound-for-pound boxing king is drug-free.

Talks between the two camps are now underway to forge a mutually-acceptable agreement, said the GMA News report.
