For new international students we offer a free airport meeting service when you first arrive in the UK. This year it will be held on Tuesday 9 September 2014. Our dedicated team of staff and ambassadors meet you at London Heathrow Airport (6am-12noon) and take you by luxury coach to our Penryn Campus. On arrival we help you to move into your accommodation and find your way around campus. Our aim is to make your arrival here as stress free as possible.
This is a free service offered to all new international and Erasmus/exchange students enrolling for the first time onto undergraduate and postgraduate programmes commencing in September 2014.
New international and exchange students are invited to participate in our three-day orientation programme each year. It’s a great opportunity for you to find your feet during what can sometimes be a challenging and confusing time.
The programme is packed with activities, social events, trips and information sessions to welcome you to Falmouth and to the UK. Meet fellow students and course staff, register to use the IT facilities, and get advice on setting up a bank account and organising healthcare. Tours of our campuses and the wider Falmouth area help you to settle into your new surroundings.
Throughout orientation we run information sessions to ensure that you have details of all the advice, help and support you may want to use during your stay here. Practical sessions include talks from key services at the University, including finance, academic support, equality and diversity, the international society, and the Students’ Union.
As well as helping you to settle into the university environment, orientation provides opportunities to explore other parts of Cornwall. We organise a trip to the Eden Project with its world-famous ‘Biomes’, and the Saturday Extra event (autumn semester only) lets you choose to take a surfing lesson, cycle coast-to-coast taking in the breathtaking Cornish landscape, try out watersport activities at Stithians Lake, or appreciate local and global modern art at Tate St Ives.
