Beevolve Technologies, founded by Goldee Udani  and is incubated at iAccelerator.org (IIM Ahmedabad) is bringing social media analytics as a  SAAS to the masses. That’s the combination of two emerging technologies into one platform to bring Business Intelligence to the masses.

 

Business Intelligence is taking a new meaning off late as it has changed gears from beevolve_logogetting your own house in order to getting to know what everyone else is saying about your house. It might not be applicable for every business but social media is un-neglectable in this new world flooded with information.

Social media itself is new and social media analytics would be brand new. That is the reason why Beevolve is in its pre-alpha stage.

Pre-social media world, corporations are busy getting their humungous databases spread across multiple layers to get under one roof through a data warehouse. This has further helped them make business decisions much faster based on demographics and other criteria. That has become a hygiene factor now and companies have to differentiate. Social media is the obvious choice. But, Embracing social media alone will not suffice. Analyzing it matters, because information is useless unless converted into intelligence, knowledge and wisdom (respectively in that order).

Beevolve’s Social Media Analytics platform ‘mines’ user sentiment from consumer shopping and review sites, twitter, blogs and mainstream media on the web to provide insights into products, brands, markets, consumers and trends.

There is so much happening at an alarming pace that it is difficult to get a feel without the right kind of tools. Beevolve is just that kind of tool to know what everyone is saying about your product and design or re-design you public relation strategy and digital marketing strategy around that.

While some large players such as Nielsen and TNS have products in this space already, Beevolve’s product differentiates itself by providing ‘feature level’ analysis for products and services.

Apart from the Social Media Analytics platform, Beevolve also runs a distributed and scalable crawler web service that launches robots in the cloud to crawl and extract information from websites. Clients have used Beevolve’s Crawler Web Service to crawl millions of web pages.

How does Beevolve and its crawler keep up with social media industry growing at a exponential pace is a big question. Not even a month passes by without the launch of a new social media site. Following a pareto principle and looking at the major social media sites like facebook, twitter, linkedin and myspace would meet most of the requirements. But, it is also important to crawl the lesser known, niche related social media sites.
