ANOTHER UPDATE: The German language news article below is from Freisinger Wochenblatt, September 9, 2009, page 6. One can access the news article, in color, by going to this page and then clicking on seite 6 (page 6) in the left-hand column

UPDATE:  You can see a copy, in German, of a news article from September showing the HRH Crown Prince at the Volkfest in Freising in Munich (Festival was held between September 4-13, 2009). BP should note the BP has altered article to place the image at the top of the page – BBC got in trouble for not doing so for HM the King so no need to tempt fate.

Wiki:

Aircraft spotting or plane spotting is the observation and logging registration numbers of aircraft: gliders, powered aircraft, balloons, airships, helicopters, and microlights.

BP: Plane spotters track flights all around the world – they have helped to uncover other flights. Some European plane spotters have been tagged the movements of HS-CMV (note they don’t follow only this plane, they follow all planes)

According to the Thai Department of Civil Aviation, “HS-CMV” is a Boeing 737-400 with a CFM56-3C1 engine which was first registered on October 11, 2005. The owner is listed as  “H.R.H. THE CROWN PRINCE MAHA VAJIRALONGKORN” (this information can be seen in this spreadsheet in English available from here)

NOTE: According to PlaneSpotters.Net, CMV stands for “HM Crown prince Maha Vajiralongkom”. For the best image of what the plane looks like, this picture here is particularly spectacular. The words written on the side of the plane พระราชพาหนะ which could be translated as “royal vehicle”.

On May 31, 2009, HS-CMV was spotted and photographed at an airport in Munich, Germany. On June 2, 2009, HS-CMV was spotted and photographed at an airport in Salzburg, Austria. On June 5, 2009, HS-CMV was spotted and photographed at an airport in Drewitz. This BP’s contribution to passing on information, in a similar way to the royal news, reports on the activities of members of the royal family.
