SAN SALVADOR, El Salvador (AP) — Salvadoran police have detained two Nicaraguan men who authorities say were transporting nine Nepalese and three Bangladeshi migrants who were bound for the United States.

Police said Monday the Nicaraguans were driving the migrants in a pickup truck that was stopped near the border with Guatemala.

Authorities say the Nicaraguan men will face human trafficking charges.

Police say the migrants entered El Salvador illegally through El Amatillo, a town on the border with Honduras.

Police recently detained a Guatemalan man who was illegally transporting seven Cubans, four people Bangladesh and two from Ecuador. The migrants had entered El Salvador from Nicaragua.
