BEIJING (AP) — Typhoon Matmo is bringing stormy weather to parts of eastern China on the heels of another typhoon that killed at least 56 people.

Matmo is traveling north through the mountainous eastern province of Fujian on Thursday, packing winds of up to 85 miles (137 kilometers) per hour. It is bringing thunderstorms to Shanghai and surrounding areas.

The system weakened to a tropical storm after making landfall in southeastern China on Wednesday. It earlier dumped heavy rain on Taiwan, where it knocked out power to more than 30,000 homes and is considered a likely factor in the crash of a plane on the island of Penghu that killed at lest 47 people.

Residents of southern China are still recovering from last week’s Typhoon Rammasun that killed at least 56 people.
