JAKARTA, Indonesia (AP) — Indonesia’s sports minister says the country has the will and the funds to stage the 2019 Asian Games as organizers search for a host to replace Vietnam.

Sport minister Roy Suryo on Sunday said “Indonesia is ready and there will be no problem with funds.”

But Indonesia Olympic Committee chairwoman Rita Subowo questioned whether the government had enough time to properly prepare.

Vietnam last week announced it would withdraw Hanoi as host city for the 2019 event, citing a lack of money. Indonesia was runnerup in the initial bidding process.

Subowo said an Olympic Council of Asia team would visit Indonesia early next month to assess its suitability to host an event that is second to the Summer Olympics in terms of the number of athletes competing.
