With another academic year already well underway, the Oxford Brookes Real Estate Management Society (OBREMS) and the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) have rewarded the efforts of the best postgraduate student on the MSc Real Estate programme at Oxford Brookes University for 2012-13.

This year, the winning student for the MSc Real Estate Management OBREMS prize and the MSc Real Estate Management RICS prize is Natasha Sidoli, who was awarded the title based on her overall performance on the MSc Real Estate Management programme. Natasha gained an undergraduate degree in Economics and Finance from Royal Holloway University, and after being offered a job at the global Real Estate services provider Savills, she decided to do her master’s at Oxford Brookes University.

Natasha said about her decision to undertake an MSc in Real Estate Management at Oxford Brookes:
“I applied to Brookes, Reading and Cass, and chose Brookes based on recommendations of the course by people in the profession. Before I applied, I called Nick (French) to discuss the course and he was so kind and helpful. He then agreed to have a chat with me when I came to visit the university on an open day. He gave me his personal time and attention, something which none of the other universities did. The discussion with Nick relaxed me completely and made me excited to be going to Brookes, despite his very honest warnings of all the hard work to come. I felt that I would get more teaching attention from the smaller, more personal classes, which might not have been the case from other universities with a much higher intake.”

Nick French, Professor in Real Estate said:
“Natasha was an outstanding student. Not only did she work hard on her academic studies but she understood the need to be up to date with events in the property market and the economy as a whole. This shone through in all her work.”

Upon receiving her prize for Best Overall MSc Real Estate Student 2012-13, Natasha said:
“I thoroughly enjoyed the Real Estate MSc at Brookes. It was a lot of hard work but also a lot of fun. I met a great bunch of people that I hope to remain friends with for many years to come. The smaller class sizes relative to other masters, enable you to form close bonds with other students which I’m sure will translate into strong contacts in the industry. The course was very practical with almost every coursework relating to a real-life client report. It was a great year and I was very surprised and flattered to be awarded the Best Overall Student Prize. I did not expect it at all, but it was a lovely way to end the year! I am very grateful to all the teachers on the course who have given me the opportunity and pleasure of winning this award.”

Natasha is now working for Savills as a graduate surveyor.
