Lord Drayson lectures on ‘a breath of fresh air for motorsport’By Oxford Brookes The Faculty of Technology, Design and Environment Oct 25, 2013 8:28PM UTC
On 18 October Lord Paul Drayson, CEO of Drayson Racing Technologies, delivered a fascinating lecture on the topic of Electric Racing to a packed audience at Oxford Brookes’ Wheatley campus.
Staff, students and visitors present heard how the need to develop an alternative to traditionally-fuelled motor racing vehicles is being informed by squandering of energy, ever-increasing air pollution and its attendant consequences. Statistics relating to the health problems caused by the pollutants in the air we breathe did not make for easy listening, and research and development into sustainable engineering is one of the ways we can begin to redress the situation. Lord Drayson encouraged everyone to think of electric street racing as a completely new concept in motorsport that can win the hearts and minds of a new generation.
In his words, a breath of fresh air for motorsport.
